Kenny wrote the lyrics for “Never Let Go of This Groove” while listening back to piano chords he recorded, and the song grew out of that single moment in the studio. The Vocal Mix keeps that original piano-and-vocal pairing at its center, built up with string lines, horn stabs, analog synth sweeps, and beefed-up 909 drums under chiming keys and a skippy, uplifting disco beat. Vocalist Jessie Wagner, who has toured with Chic and Duran Duran and fronted the band Army of the Underdog, delivers a soulful melody that perfectly matches Kenny’s arrangement.

Kenny’s Deeper Groove Mix trades the piano for vintage electric keys and atmospheric synth chimes, while chasing the chunkier rhythms and swirling synths of the late-1990s deep house sound, harking back to the sound of Kenny’s DJ sets.

Demarkus Lewis, a longtime Coastline Recordings contributor with credits running from Nervous Records to Kingstreet Sounds to his own Grin Music imprint, closes the release with Demarkus Lewis’ Deez Regroove Mix , built on synth strings, warm chord pads, and drums and bass that hug the vocal line rather than crowd it, a late-night dancefloor delight.
